Fall: Precious experiences in the city
Fall has truly arrived: trench coats and umbrellas are out, and the clocks have gone back an hour. With everyone back at work and into their daily routine, summer holidays are now a sweet memory.
For many of us, fall marks the restart of the new season as well as the new school year. It’s the perfect time to make new plans and set professional goals, and maybe start a new interesting activity in the city. Something that will help us feel good, share experiences with our family and reconnect with our friends.
The ideal time for fitness
Fitness and wellness go hand in hand. After a hot summer, it’s time to bring exercise back into your schedule. If you’re having trouble taking the plunge, we have some tips for you:
- Ask yourself what suits you – Do you prefer team or individual sports? Are you an outdoor or indoor type? Do you like cardio or strength training?
- Check what’s available near you – Is there a municipal swimming pool, tennis court, 5x5 soccer field or other sports facilities near you? Is there a gym, Pilates studio or a dance school close by?
- Plan your time – Try to fit exercise into your other commitments. For example, while your children are attending afternoon classes, you can jog in the nearby park.
- Find a workout buddy – Exercise with your significant other or your friends. This gives you extra motivation and ensures you’ll have more fun.
New activities and exciting outings
Big cities offer countless opportunities for creative activities and a chance to meet new people, if you’re up for it. If you’re the artistic type, join a painting or pottery class, an amateur theater group or a creative writing workshop and express yourself with no inhibitions. If your interests lie elsewhere, try a cooking or pastry class and learn how to make sushi or bake cakes, or join a book club and talk about the books you’re reading each month.
Fall is also ideal for indoor expeditions, such as visits to museums or art galleries or a trip to the Planetarium for a nerdy Sunday with or without your kids. The theater season also kicks off in the cities around this time of the year, offering plenty of options, from classic to contemporary plays and stand-up comedy shows. Book your seats for the most talked-about fall plays and experience the magic of the theater stage.
Fall shopping and entertainment at the malls
With winter upon us, it’s time to renew our wardrobe. If you have young children, it's unlikely that they can fit into last year’s clothes and shoes. On the other hand, you might also need a fresh start with a new pair of boots or some sweaters to tackle the first cold days. The ideal destination for shopping for the entire family is a mall, where you can find stores catering to all ages and tastes.
But modern malls are not just a shopping destination. In big cities, malls are a point of interest, a place where you can combine a shopping spree with dining experiences and family entertainment. Many malls feature movie theaters, restaurants and cafés or places designed for children, such as indoor playgrounds and creative activity zones.
The LAMDA Development malls: the city’s meeting points
We were the first company to bring malls to Greece in 2005, and we have since created the largest commercial portfolio in the country. Today, our 4 malls have become the meeting points of the city, and, aside from an opportunity for shopping, they offer rich and unique experiences for the entire family:
- The Mall Athens – The 1st indoor mall to open in Greece in 2005. It hosts shops with your favorite brands, a movie theater, cafés and restaurants with cuisines from Japan to Mexico. The Urban Roof Garden on level 3 combines the ease of self-service with high aesthetics.
- Golden Hall – The premium Athens mall, which, aside from fashion stores and restaurants for any taste, is also home to XPLORE, an exciting space spanning 4,500 sq.m, where children discover the world through play. XPLORE also features the 1st aquarium in the city, with more than 2,000 marine organisms. The Golden Hall also houses the Olympic Museum of Athens, which presents the history of the Olympic Games in a most unique way.
- Mediterranean Cosmos – The largest shopping and entertainment destination in Thessaloniki, with 200 stores, more than 30 restaurant choices and lots of ideas for fun, including movie theaters and escape rooms. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy your coffee or a meal at the large outdoor plaza with the lake.
- Designer Outlet Athens – The 1st outlet village in Greece, only 30 minutes from the Athens center and 15 from the airport. It boasts an extensive range of stores, from iconic fashion brands to popular sports brands, at attractive prices all year round. And if you get tired while you shop, you can rest at one of the outdoor restaurants and cafés.
