Smart Cities for a Sustainable Future

At LAMDA Development, we believe sustainability begins with knowledge and active participation of the younger generation. In collaboration with the non-profit organization SciCo, we created a pioneering educational journey connecting young people with the concepts of sustainable development, technology, and innovation as embodied in modern “smart” cities. The school program “Smart City Innovators: Smart Cities for a Sustainable Future” enabled over 1,600 students from the municipalities of Elliniko-Argyroupoli, Alimos, and Glyfada to imagine and design the future they deserve.

Further enhancing the program, LAMDA Development and SciCo extended “Smart City Innovators: Smart Cities for a Sustainable Future” beyond the classroom, allowing even more children to engage with the concepts of a smart city. In this context, The Ellinikon Experience Park hosted activities over three weekends, turning them into a festival of innovation and creativity for children aged 8-12. Through hands-on workshops, creative approaches, and group activities, children explored the features of a “smart” and sustainable city, from bioclimatic practices and resource management to digital infrastructure and urban development concepts.

This year, the program expands even further with an exhibition-event at the Athens Conservatoire Amphitheatre, where up to 20 school teams participating in the educational program will present their own “Smart City” models, combining technology, creativity, and a vision for sustainable urban development.
