Joint venture of Hephaestus Hellas Shipbuilding with Daring will bid for fireboat construction

The Hephaestus Hellas Shipbuilding and Motomarine S.A. announced that they are forming a joint venture to bid in a line of fireboats.

The joint venture is the first collaboration of the two companies, each with 50 percent share in the venture. To realize this project, the new joint venture will rely on Hephaestus’ long experience in metal structures, its excellent harbor facilities and the know-how of Motomarine S.A. on vessels of that type.

HEPHASTUS HELLAS Shipbuilding S.A., a 75% subsidiary of the LAMDA Development group, is a modern ship building and repair company specialized in the construction, conversion, repair and maintenance of all types of commercial boats, and also of large yachts. Its yard, equipped with all harbor facilities, buildings and machine equipment required for work on ships up to 150,000 ton size, is located on a 7.5 hectare site at the 27th kilometer of the old Athens – Corinth highway.

MOTOMARINE S.A., a subsidiary of the DARING group (which owns 51 percent in the company) makes the LAMBRO brand recreation boats, and also designs and builds boats for defense and other government uses. In this sector, LAMBRO has built 400 vessels in the last 20 years, including 80 percent of the total number of boats used by the Greek Coast Guard, and also boats commissioned by NATO, the Special Forces, the Fire Service, the Greek ministry of Economics, the Air Force and others.

Presently MOTOMARINE S.A. is filling a series of government contracts including 7 boats commissioned by the Greek Army’s Special Forces, 8 boats for the Greek Navy through an offset benefit agreement with FERROSTAAL, the German defense manufacturer, and also collaboration with the German shipyards HDW AG for building parts of 2+1 advanced technology submarines (CL214).

The company’s production plant comprises facilities of 3,000 m2 on one hectare of land situated at the 27th kilometer of the Vari - Koropi avenue, and employs 80 specialized workers. The company holds ISO 9001 certification, and also Greek ministry of Defense certification for safety.
